We have successfully completed our first week of kindergarten using My Father’s World God’s Creation from A to Z. The first ten days is a gentle introduction of school while studying about God’s creation. This unit is designed to be done in ten days but we combined the unit into seven days instead of ten. It also does an introduction into the alphabet, however my son already knows his ABC’s as well as most of the phonic sounds for the letters so we briefly covered this area. Continue reading
I had an old dry erase board that was going to be thrown away… what a great opportunity to try out chalkboard paint! I decided to refurbish the board using a spray chalkboard paint. It was so simple! Continue reading
My oldest is starting 9th grade this fall…. HIGH SCHOOL, yikes where does the time go! This is our first year that we will be using My Father’s World Ancient History and Literature (You can read more about this year curriculum choice here) and we are so excited (maybe me more than my son). I love MFW for so many different reasons, its bible based curriculum to be a top contender but this year it focuses on teaching our young man to become more independent and responsible for his own work. I am hoping that this will be an easy transition as he has been pretty independent last year but at the same time he often needs a little nudging. My only concern is the amount of reading is a lot more than the previous year and my son does not like to read (I hope that changes as time goes on because this mama loves to read). This post will go over how I organized this year’s curriculum.
It has been one month since I started my Trim Healthy Mama journey. There has been lots stumbles and learning along the way (and lots more to go) but I am happy to be on this journey. To be honest, there is SO much information to take in, it can be very overwhelming, I am not sure if I would have been so successful if it was not for the help of all my THM sisters on my facebook group. Following these bunch of wonderful ladies you quickly start to learn the ropes. Any advice I can offer for newbies, is to stick it out, reference The Building Blocks, have your book on hand at all times and ASK, any questions you have.. ask the ladies on Facebook or in the Forum. Someone will help guide you!
This is our first year using My Father’s World Kindergarten curriculum, I am so excited for this fun, hands-on learning experience. I will be starting this in August with my soon to be 5 year old ( he will be 5 at the end of August). I hope to have weekly updates on each unit as we progress through out the school year. For this post, I wanted to show what was in the box and how I am organizing it.
It’s that time to be finalizing our curriculum for next year and with my oldest staring high school and my second oldest starting kindergarten I have so much mix emotions for this upcoming year but one thing I know is what curriculum I will be using. Continue reading
Summer means lots of play time outside! One of my boys’ favorite activities to do is to paint and what better fun then painting up the sidewalk. We made homemade sidewalk paints. It was a huge success and it’s super EASY to make! Woo Hoo! Only three common household ingredients are needed, Corn Starch, Water, and Food Coloring. So simple. Continue reading
